well, maybe you should try talking to her and explaining that you will pay her the money back. Money has just been kind of tight lately. Tell her that you have not been avoiding her in any way, and you will get it to her as soon as you can, even if it's a little bit at a time. I am sure she would appreciate that more than nothing.
