Are melted plastic fumes hazardous?

I am 4 months pregnant. I was cooking something in the oven for my 2 sons. I left a pot top upside down on top of the stove, which has a plastic handle. When I went to pick up the top I noticed that the plastic had melted a little. Will smelling the melted plastic harm me, my unborn baby, or my two sons?
