Birth control Patch first time user - many questions!?

I used Ortho Evra for about a year after being on Ortho TriCyclan. It did have a tendency to peel off around the edges, like you mentioned. I've actually had them peel off completely. They were effective against pregnancy for me. I don't remember if I used a condom or not, but I'm pretty sure I didn't. I don't think you need to worry so much about where exactly the patch is supposed to be placed. It can be off a little and still be effective. I got off of it because of the side effects, but be advised that Ortho Evra has been linked to women dying of blood clots. About the starting of a the patch, doctors usually tell you to start a certain day after your period ends (usually Sunday). I would verify it with the doctor first. You should be okay to have on the day you change your patch, since it's already in your system. But about how long it takes for your body to adjust to birth control and prevent pregnancy, I'm not entirely certain. That's another question for your doctor. I hope I helped a little!
