Can my college instructor force me to create a myspace page?

I am 30 years old and taking an online introductory computer science cl--the course is very basic (no prerequisites). One **required** ignment for this community college course (worth a certain number of points (Santa Barbara City College) is to create a MySpace account and add the instructor as a friend. I have the option of creating the page and adding the instructor as friend; and then deleting the account. May may instructor require this an ignment?
